In the fast paced world we live in it is easy to become addicted to stress and busyness. Try these easy steps to bring focus and calm back into your daily routine.
1. Live in the moment
Enjoy all the pleasures that life brings and savour each moment. Delay jumping ahead and planning the future until you have fully soaked up what the present has to offer.
2. Surround yourself with nature
Take a stroll in the park, relax in the garden or make time to simply look up at the sky. Wonder at the beautiful sights around us and take in the tiny details. Regular breaks outside will give fresh air to your lungs and clarity to your mind.
3. Reduce screen time
Minimise time spent on your laptop and phone or watching t.v. Use your hands to make something, try the therapeutic art of bread making, knitting or crafting. Read a book or play a game and feel your body and mind relax free from technology.
4. Eat simply
Cut down on time and calories by creating simple, healthy meals. Enjoy the natural flavours of freshly cooked food.
5. Declutter
Being minimalistic means having less to clutter your house and your mind. It also means less time tidying and cleaning, so more time to relax in your calming space.
6. Say NO!
We need to re-learn this word, as adults, and stop adhering to everyone's requests. It is okay to say no, to protect our precious time and limit the burdening weight of obligation.
7. Focus on the goal
Know what you want to achieve, be specific, be realistic, and have a game plan. Use your time and resources wisely and keep the focus always on what makes you happy.
8. Connect with compassion
Nurture the relationships in your life, mindfully showing kindness, honesty and empathy. Allow yourself to love and be loved.
